Immigration to Ukraine

In accordance to the Ukrainian Law "On Immigration" , The following categories of foreign citizens can apply for permanent residence inUkraine within annual immigration quote:
a) scientists and artists whose immigration is of public interest of Ukraine[supporting letter of the Ukrainian authority soliciting the immigrant];
b) highly qualified specialists and workers whose specialization is deficit in Ukraine [qualification certificates];
c) businessmen who invested over US $100,000 into Ukrainian economy [certificate of state registration of the foreign investment];
d) brothers, sisters, grandparents or grandchildren of a Ukrainian citizen [documents confirming kinship with a citizen of Ukraine];
e) former Ukrainian citizens [document confirming being a former citizen of Ukraine];
g) parents, spouse and children of minor age of immigrants to Ukraine (documents confirming kinship with the immigrants];
h) refugees who have lived in Ukraine for 3 years subsequently, their parents, spouse and minor children [documents confirming the status and residence in Ukraine].

The following categories of foreign citizens can apply for permanent residence in Ukraine disregarding annual immigration quote:

a) spouse of a Ukrainian citizen married to him/her for over two years, parents/children of a Ukrainian citizen [documents confirming kinship with a citizen of Ukraine];
b) guardian of a Ukrainian citizen [documents confirming their status];
c) persons born in Ukraine and therefore eligible for the Ukrainian citizenship [documents confirming that their predecessors or brothers/sisters were born or lived inUkraine by July 16, 1990];
d) persons whose immigration corresponds to national interests of Ukraine [supporting letter of a Ukrainian central authority declaring immigration of a person of national interest].

Foreign citizens who apply for permanent residence in Ukraine (immigration to Ukraine) should lodge the following documents to the Embassy of Ukraine:

1. A written request wherein you formally declare your intention to apply for authorized permanent residence in Ukraine (explaining your reasons thereof and indicating whether you will be seeking financial assistance after being lawfully admitted for permanent residence).
2. An application form duly signed and dated (translated application form can be found here).
3. Three passport-size photos.
4. A copy of the document confirming the identity of the individual (Australian passport).
5. The document about place of residence of the applicant.
6. Police clearance issued by the Australian authorities (criminal record certificate).
7. Information on family members, a copy of marriage certificate (if a person, who submits the application, is married). 8. Medical reference certifying that the person is not ill with chronic alcoholism, toxic predilection, drugs predilection or infectious diseases; the central body of the executive authority of health care defines the list of such illnesses.

The applicants should apply in person and they are also subject to an interview. The Consular Office has full authority to evaluate and request more documents if needed.

All documents issued in Australia should have an apostille stamp put at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.

A consular fee for processing an applicant's request for permanent residence is AUD 542.

The Consular Office accepts payment for visa a bank deposit to the account at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia BSB 062900 No.10415582 ‘Embassy of Ukraine’ (SWIFT - CTBAAU2S, address - London Circuit & Ainsley Ave, Canberra, ACT, 2601, Australia).

Payment reference is applicants surname, separate payment should be done for each visa application.

Money orders, personal cheques or cheques with mark “DRAFT” are not accepted.

Should an applicant's request to enter Ukraine for permanent residence be denied, the sum paid is not refundable.
Should foreign citizens wish to apply for permanent residence in Ukraine while being in Ukrain, they are required to refer to the Immigration Section of the Regional Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
