Within the working visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara to New York to participate in the events of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly 23 September 2013 the Joint Communique on the establishing of the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Fiji was signed.

During the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Fiji there were discussed the perspectives of developing a trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and establishing the bilateral legal base.
