Australia is the leading trade partner of Ukraine in Oceania.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, during 2019 the total trade turnover between Ukraine and Australia reached USD 151,6 mln, that is 70% higher than past year.
Export of goods from Ukraine to Australia reached USD 43,4 mln (44% increase), and import – USD 99,5 mln (84% increase).
Major Ukrainian export commodities included metallurgy and machinery, vessels, plastics as well as plant and animal fats and oils.
In its turn, Australia exported to Ukraine mineral fuel, pharmaceutics, machinery, optics, wool, jewelry, carton and paper.
The volume of bilateral trade in services during 2019 was USD 8,7 mln (out of which export – USD 6,9 mln and import – USD 1,8 mln). The main types of the services provided by Australian and Ukrainian companies were logistics, telecommunication and tourism.
During first quarter of 2020 export of goods from Ukraine to Australia reached USD 7,3 mln (14,4% decrease), while import to Ukraine - USD 3,7 mln (80,9% decrease),
As of April 2020, the volume of direct Australian investments into Ukraine amounted to more than USD 2 mln. The largest share of funding was invested into retail trade, information technology and telecommunications.
