The congratulatory message of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to the Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Australia
Your Excellency,
Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Australia.
We highly value the close friendly relations and partnership between our two nations and the significant attention the Australian Government has paid to the development of diverse bilateral cooperation with Ukraine.
Australia was among the first countries in the world to recognize the independence of Ukraine, the first to recognise on a parliamentary level the Holodomor as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people, and your country has consistently and decisively supported Ukraine in our struggle against Russian aggression.
An important link uniting our two countries is the large and active Ukrainian community in Australia, which is celebrating 70 years of settlement in Australia this year.
I am confident that the warm friendly relations and partnership between Ukraine and Australia will continue to develop auspiciously to the benefit of both our countries. In particular, I look forward to the successful implementation of the Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of Ukraine on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, which will significantly increase the energy security of our country.
Availing myself of this opportunity, I would like to congratulate you on your upcoming national holiday – Australia Day.
I wish your Excellency strong health and success in public life, and to the friendly Australian people – harmony and prosperity.
