House of Representatives of the Australian Federal Parliament adopted the statement on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine
27 February 2018 07:56

The statement was initiated by the chairman of the Ukraine-Australia parliamentary Friendship Group, the representative of the ruling Liberal Party of Australia, Chris Kruseer, and member of the parliament, Steve Iron.

The statement states, in particular, that the Australian Parliament condemns the actions aimed at destroying the national, cultural, religious and democratic aspirations of the Ukrainian people, which were the most terrible acts of genocide in history;

Condemns such acts of manifestations of racial, ethnic and religious hatred during the XX century; commemorates those who perished during the Holodomor and joins the Australian Ukrainian community and the international community in memory of this tragic event under the slogan "Ukraine Remembers - The World Acknowledges."

Deputies of the Australian Parliament are calling to remember and continue to study these tragic pages in the history of human race so that such tragedies do not recur in the future.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Australia and the Australian Federation of  Ukrainian Organizations in Australia expressed their gratitude to Chris Kruseer and Steve Iron for initiating the statement.
