On September 20, 2024, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko took part in a special ceremony on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Australian Mission to Timor-Leste.

During the event, the Ambassador of Ukraine had conversations with the Minister for Veterans Affairs of Australia Matt Keogh and the Commissioner for Repatriation and Veterans of INTERFET Kahlil Fegan, during which they discussed the possibility of exchanging experience in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of military personnel affected by armed conflicts.

For reference: in 1999, Australia led a multinational peacekeeping operation (INTERFET) in response to the humanitarian and security crisis in East Timor (now the Independent State of Timor-Leste), where security and stabilization forces remained until 2013
