On 26 May 2026, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko addressed the Indian Ocean Defence and Security Conference, focusing on the future of modern warfare and the importance of Ukraine’s battlefield experience for the security of Australia and the wider Indo-Pacific region.
In his speech, the Ambassador stressed that Ukraine has become one of the world’s fastest-adapting militaries in response to the challenges of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Ukrainian forces continue to develop new approaches to asymmetric warfare, drone operations, electronic warfare, and technological innovation on the battlefield.
Vasyl Myroshnychenko underlined that this experience has been gained at an immense human cost - through the sacrifice of Ukrainian servicemen and women. He noted that Ukraine is ready to share its practical knowledge and defence expertise with partners, including Australia, to help democratic nations better prepare for the realities of modern warfare.
The Ambassador also highlighted the growing cooperation between Russia, North Korea, and China, emphasising that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific is increasingly interconnected.
