Sides discussed what can be done to build crisis support and suicide prevention help-line services in Ukraine
The Minister for Health of Ukraine, Dr Ulana Suprun, has asked Lifeline Australia to look at what can be done to build crisis support and suicide prevention help-line services in Ukraine. There's of course specific concern about returning service personnel and internally displaced people resulting from the imposed conflict in the east of Ukraine. On the invitation of the Minister, our Alan Woodward, Executive Director of the Lifeline Research Foundation and truly Australia's leading expert on suicide prevention, will soon travel to Kyiv to assess and provide counsel. It was yesterday great to hear Ambassador Mykola Kulinich's views on the situation in Ukraine, including psycho-social pressures, and to have his support for the initiative.
