Australia announced a new AUD 60 million support package for Ukraine, accession to the Maritime Capability Coalition and additional sanctions against Russia.
On 23 September 2026, during a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese in New York, Australia announced an additional AUD 60 million support package for Ukraine.
The package includes:
AUD 45 million in Australian Defence Force equipment;
AUD 10 million for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund;
AUD 5 million in humanitarian assistance.
Australia will also join the UK- and Norway-led Maritime Capability Coalition for Ukraine, further strengthening support for Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
During the meeting, the leaders also agreed that their teams would work towards a Ukraine–Australia Drone Deal, drawing on Ukraine’s unique battlefield experience and technological expertise in uncrewed systems.
At the same time, Australia announced an additional package of sanctions targeting Russia and individuals and entities supporting its aggression against Ukraine.
The new restrictive measures cover individuals, entities and vessels, including those linked to the unlawful deportation and indoctrination of Ukrainian children, as well as other aspects of Russia’s aggression.
Australia is thereby continuing to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and its capacity to finance and wage its war against Ukraine.
With the new package, Australia’s overall contribution to Ukraine has now reached almost AUD 1.9 billion.
Ukraine deeply appreciates the steadfast, practical and long-term support of the Australian Government and people.
