In connection with the temporary occupation of certain districts of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Kherson regions, the European Union imposed sanctions prohibiting the conduct of trade, payment and other foreign economic operations in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. At the same time, certain credit and banking institutions blocked payments between Ukrainian companies located in the government-controlled areas of Ukraine-controlled territories (mainly in Zaporizhzhia region).
