A parliamentary delegation from Ukraine, led by Galyna Mykhailiuk, Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada and Deputy Chair of the Committee on Law Enforcement, visited Australia to strengthen bilateral cooperation and deepen the Australia-Ukraine partnership.

During the visit, the delegation held a number of high-level meetings and engagements aimed at advancing political dialogue, defence cooperation, investment opportunities, and support for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction.

The programme of the visit included:

• meetings with ministers and parliamentary representatives at the federal level, as well as in the states of Queensland and New South Wales;

• discussions with representatives of the investment community, defence companies, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and officials of the British High Commission in Australia;

• the launch in Canberra of the Parliamentary Friends of Ukraine group, aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation and support for Ukraine within Australia;

• a meeting with members of the Ukrainian community in Brisbane.

The visit also contributed to bringing Ukraine’s priorities into the Australian public discourse, with national media highlighting Ukraine’s defence, humanitarian and reconstruction needs.
