In February 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in Australia welcomed community activist Marusya Jacyshyn, who has played a leading role in organising weekly demonstrations in support of Ukraine held outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canberra since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
In recognition of her tireless efforts, leadership, and dedication to mobilising community support for Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko presented Ms Jacyshyn with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Embassy of Ukraine.
The regular Saturday demonstrations have become an important symbol of solidarity with Ukraine in Australia. Since February 2022, members of the Ukrainian community and friends of Ukraine have gathered each week in Canberra to peacefully protest against Russia’s war of aggression and to express their continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
During the visit, the Embassy also had the pleasure of welcoming Muntakim Chowdhury, a long-standing supporter of the Ukrainian community in Canberra. In appreciation of his continued solidarity and support for Ukraine, Ambassador Myroshnychenko presented him with a commemorative souvenir from the Embassy.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Australia expresses its sincere gratitude to all members of the Ukrainian community and friends of Ukraine in Australia whose dedication and advocacy continue to strengthen international support for Ukraine.
