On 17 May 2025, Michael Galea MP, a member of the Parliament of the Australian state of Victoria, delivered a speech in the Victorian Parliament about his recent visit to Ukraine. During this trip, Mr. Galea visited Kyiv and Lviv, where he discussed with local authorities possible avenues of support for Ukraine and cooperation between the two countries.

He also visited sites of recent Russian strikes on civilian buildings to witness firsthand the crimes committed by the Russian Federation.

During the visit, Mr. Galea delivered a letter from the Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan, to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressing Victoria’s and Australia’s continued support for Ukraine.

In his parliamentary statement, Mr. Galea emphasized that Australia will continue to provide support to Ukraine and expressed gratitude to Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko, the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO), and the Association of Ukrainians in Victoria for their assistance in organizing the trip.
