On 9 April 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in Australia had the pleasure of welcoming representatives of the Ukrainian community in Canberra - Mykhailo Lysevych and Pavlo Trukhaniv.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, presented the guests with honorary certificates in recognition of their longstanding and dedicated support for Ukraine. Certificates were also conveyed for Lilia Pelykh and Anna Sirosh, who were unable to attend the meeting in person.

The awardees have made a significant contribution to supporting Ukraine, including through regular community-led fundraising initiatives. In particular, they have repeatedly organised the preparation and sale of food in Canberra to raise funds for Ukraine. Between 2022 and 2026, these efforts resulted in the collection and transfer of substantial financial assistance to Ukraine.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing and prospective initiatives aimed at supporting and advocating for Ukraine. Among other topics, the parties exchanged views on cultural diplomacy efforts, including film screenings as part of the Ukrainian Film Festival in Canberra.

The Embassy expresses its sincere appreciation to the Ukrainian community in Australia for its continued solidarity and active support for Ukraine.
