On 10 May 2025, Prime Minister Christopher Laxon of New Zealand took part in the Coalition of the Willing Summit organised by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting was held in a hybrid format, bringing together leaders from more than 30 countries to discuss joint steps to stop Russian aggression and achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Commenting on the outcome of the summit, Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Laxon reaffirmed his unwavering solidarity with Ukraine, stressing that ‘our values only matter when we put them into action’.
New Zealand's participation in the summit was an important manifestation of international unity in countering Russian aggression and supporting peace based on respect for international law and Ukraine's sovereignty.
