On 7 May 2026, New Zealand announced a new round of sanctions targeting individuals and entities supporting Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.
The new measures focus on malicious cyber actors, online platforms spreading pro-Russian disinformation, sanctions evasion schemes, and suppliers linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex. They also target actors from the DPRK and Iran assisting Russia’s war efforts.
Ukraine is grateful to Foreign Minister Winston Peters and the Government of New Zealand for this principled and timely decision.
These sanctions send a clear message: those enabling Russia’s aggression — whether through cybercrime, propaganda, sanctions circumvention, or military support — will be held accountable.
Ukraine deeply values New Zealand’s unwavering solidarity and its continued commitment to defending the rules-based international order.
