Communique of His Excellency Dr Mykola Kulinich Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Australia on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity to the Ukrainian-Australian community
My dear members of the Ukrainian-Australian community. Today Ukraine, together with Ukrainians throughout the world, is marking the second anniversary of the Maidan Revolution of Dignity.
I know that many of you were active participants in the Maidan Revolution, directly or indirectly. This affirms that dignity, freedom and fundamental human values are shared by us all.
Our stance for dignity and freedom cost us dearly. Even now our fellow countrymen are paying for it with their lives.
In today’s very difficult and challenging times, it is essential for us all to be united in our efforts to defend the human rights and freedom of the Ukrainian nation.
That which today pains and provokes us lies not on the conscience of the Maidan, for that was a sacred and selfless struggle, sanctified with the blood of the Heavenly Hundred, who we will remember always.
On the occasion of the commemoration of the Heavenly Hundred, I personally, and on behalf of Ukraine, sincerely greet the participants, the volunteers, and all who shared in our struggle for national independence, and all who held fast and prevailed in the Revolution of Dignity.
Let there be peace in the land of Ukraine, prosperity and family harmony in your homes, and may your belief in a joyful, prosperous future for the Ukrainian nation never wane.
Our struggle is just. It has the support of the whole world and we shall inevitably prevail.
We remember and honour the heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of their country! May they rest in Peace.
M. A. Kulinich
Ambassador to Ukraine in Australia
